As over 50 000 Zimbabweans joined last minute queues to regularise their stay in South Africa it has been revealed that South Africa actually offered Zimbabwe the use of its state-of-the-art passport printing press with a capacity to process 4 000 passports per hour ahead of the December 31 deadline.

Passport chaos at Zimbabwe consulate in SA

Processing of passports applications came to a standstill at the Zimbabwe Consulate’s Beula Park two days before the 31 December deadline when nearly 50 000 Zimbabweans turned up.
The security sealed off entrance from early afternoon until the end of business hours as the Consulate staff members threw their hands in the air conceding failure to deal with the high number of applicants.

Commercial Banks Resume Consumer Lending

Some Zimbabwean commercial banks are resuming consumer lending, making loans for school fees, settling power and water bills, and for 7other purposes, in general lending the equivalent of one month’s salary at 28 percent annual interest.

Policewoman Shoved Off Moving Kombi

A policewoman based at Harare Central Police Station was critically injured after being shoved off a moving commuter omnibus by a tout along Robson Manyika Road. The case could well culminate into one of attempted murder as the nature of the violent attack was horrendous and gory for all who set eyes upon the injured cop.
