By Jonathan Mbiriyamveka

Musician Alexio Kawara has postponed his live DVD recording which was scheduled for tonight to November 13 due to lack of funds, a band official has said.

Tino Hondo, who is the event coordinator, said some sponsors kept shifting goal posts until the last minute.

“Some sponsors who had given a green light were irresolute but now we are concluding a deal with an interested sponsor but we cannot implement that deal in time for Friday’s show since they are branding and promotional implications are at play,” she said.Hondo urged fans who had already bought tickets to keep them or get their refunds if they will not be available for the show on the new date.

“We sincerely regret any inconveniences caused and thank all those who had purchased tickets or were planning to be at the show.

“The show plan remains the same. Alexio Kawara and his Shades of Black team will host a live DVD recording show at 7 Arts Theatre on Friday November 13 2010 at 7pm,” she said.

The live concert will capture on DVD and audio some of Alexio’s best songs, new songs as well as various highly successful collaborations done with the likes of Andy Brown, Teererai Mugwadi and Clive “Mono” Mukundu to name just a few.

Alexio is one of the most promising young Zimbabwean musicians having produced hit after hit song for a number of years now. As a musician he has grown regionally as well, having begun to perform at events like the Blantyre Arts Festival in Malawi.

Shades of Black comprise Isa Chida, Fatima Katiji, Nelly Ndomu Masendeke, Cornelius Mponda, Roy Zuka, Eddington Matambira and Tawanda Ndoro with Don Gwese, as the band manager.
