Body of murdered Zimbabwean woman flown back home

The body of a Zimbabwean woman discovered dead at her home in Leicester in the United Kingdom is to be flown to Zimbabwe. Julia Mubvumba was found dead at a flat in Gotham Street, Highfields, on Friday, March 26. A murder probe was launched by Leicestershire Constabulary in the wake of the discovery.

Following a lengthy police investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death, her body has now been released. A family memorial service was due to take place in New Eltham, London, and the 44-year-old’s body is expected to be flown back to Zimbabwe thereafter.

It has been reported that Mubvumba will be buried in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare. A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Constabulary confirmed that the body had been released following the completion of forensic examinations.

She said: “Julia Mubvumba’s body has been released to her family for repatriation in Zimbabwe.  Following a murder investigation and in line with Home Office procedures, the victim’s body will be released.”

Archibald Gurure, 34, of Humberstone Road, Leicester, has been charged with murder. This is Leicester.co.uk
