Fungisai to hold fundraising show

Gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave will on May 22 hold a fund-raising show in Harare in a bid to raise money for a number of children’s homes in the capital.

The solo performance being held under the theme ‘‘Another Chance to be kind” is expected to draw a number of her fans who had missed the harmonious voice after Fungisai had gone quiet as far as shows of this kind are concerned.

Fungisai said she realised that many people want to be kind, but just don’t find the right way to do so.

“I have realised that the world is full of great and generous people who want to assist others and everyday they search for opportunities to do that but don’t get any”. Others want to do it at the highest level and so we have decided to give people an opportunity to be kind, hence our theme, Another chance to be kind,’’ she said.

The proceeds will be directed towards charity organisations like Chinyaradzo, Matthew Rusike and Mutare Children’s homes among others. Fungisai appealed to fans to bring winter wear for the benefit of disadvantaged people.

“We want all those who come to bring whatever they can. Winter is just around the corner so we would prefer blankets, jerseys and other forms of winter wear,” Fungisai said.

She said people have already started pledging clothing items and cash.

“Many have pledged and others are still welcome to do the same, even a cent counts when it comes to helping the disadvantaged,” she said.

During the show, Fungisai is expe-cted to belt out some of the crowd’s favourite songs like Makomborero, Kurarama Inyasha and Toita Zvedenga among others.

She last performed at this year’s national Independence gala at the Harare International Conference Centre where she left the crowd clamouring for more after she belted out the song Pindirai.
