Thailand beat Zimbabwe 3-0

Thailand warmed up for their 2011 Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan next week with a comfortable 3-0 friendly win over Zimbabwe in Bangkok on Tuesday.

There was some confusion as to whether they played the Zimbabwe national team or a club team but whatever the reality, it was a useful workout for the Thais.

Suttinun Phukhom grabbed two while Kirati Keowsombat got the other but coach Bryan Robson wasn’t entirely happy. “Zimbabwe tried to defend and we had to be patient and wait for scoring chances,” the former England skipper said according to the-afc.com.

“Our defence played well but our passing must be more accurate against Jordan.” A over Jordan on January 6 would be a big step in the direction of the 2011 Asian Cup.

With four of the six Group E games played, Thailand are in third with five points, one point and one place above Jordan.Iran lead with seven points while Singapore have six. The top two qualify.
