Members of the Politburo are still to appointed as Mugabe is yet to finalise the list. He is expected to soon present the full list before a special Central Committee meeting for adoption.

Prof Moyo, who is also Tsholotsho North House of Assembly member, received wild cheers from the thousands of delegates attending the party’s Fifth National People’s Congress as he made his way to the stage to present himself to the Presidium.

Among those who failed to make it into the committee are Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Engineer Walter Mzembi and former Cabinet minister Cde Chen Chimutengwende.

Prof Moyo was dismissed from Zanu-PF and subsequently Government after he opted to stand for Tsholotsho North as an independent candidate in the 2005 parliamentary elections.

In a brief interview last night, he said: “I am humbled and excited to be back in the party’s main structures.

Moyo is blamed for single handedly destroying the entire Zimbabwe media landscape through a raft of repressive legislation which he crafted.
