Urban groover Edene Timbe showcased one of the poorest performances at the just-ended Harare International Festival of Arts.

Something was wrong with the way she sang. People could barely hear the lyrics to her songs. Her sassy dances failed to make up for her dismal voice outcome.

Worse still performing one of the late Brenda Fassie's songs was to her disadvantage as it made people compare her to the Afro-pop queen.

"Zvakwana zvakwana zvakwana mai mwana," chanted the crowd as they booed and jeered at her to leave the stage.

For someone who won the Best Female Urban Groover award, her performance failed to hold up to her title and meet people's expectations.

"She just does not have what it takes and her stage command is poor.

"She is just a rich kid on the block who has access to recording and mastering studios she wants otherwise if she had recorded her album here dai riri mudhosvo," commented one reveller.

Commendably, Edene kept her composure and showed a spirit of determination as she continued with her act despite the odds she was facing.

Soon after her act, the late System Tazvida's song - Mabhawu - that was played definitely was the song of the night.

Mafrik went on to put a spectacular show laced with Stunners' rapping talent. They belted out their popular songs - Ndichamuudza Chete and Chizevezeve among others.

Who knew the national anthem could rock people so crazy? Stuff de Peso from Angola did it with the national anthem on a house mix. They also did a rendition of Cde Chinx's Vanhu Vose vemuAfrica.

Also lined up for the Coca Cola Day show at Hifa was Roki who churned out his popular song Chidzoka and people just loved it.

He also performed alongside Pauline and sung Culture T's Satan Wabvepi.

Roki is one of the few urban groovers whose stage work is excellent. But this time around, his act was just mediocre.

He failed to excite the crowd, as he left all the work to his band members to present the much needed vibes.

But surely Roki's only female dancer - Melody - known in the circles as Chocolate, did not disappoint. The pint-sized dancer, danced, swung and circled like there was no tomorrow and the crowd just loved every bit of it.
