12 June 2008 By Never Kadungure A few days after police impounded his armour-plated BMW X5 vehicle MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai outwitted his political rival Robert Mugabe by getting a colourful tour bus for his campaign. The tour bus concept, a popular American tradition of campaigning, is effective in grabbing attention even where the candidate does not address a rally. Party insignia and messages can still be read when its on the move. Tsvangirai got off from the bus (pictured right) and told supporters at the Harvest House headquarters in Harare, ‘We are going to be in every town, village, to meet the people of Zimbabwe.’ The bus was painted in the red and black colours of the party and travelled through parts of Harare and Norton. In days gone by Tsvangirai has been stopped and arrested by police over 2 times in attempts at disrupting his campaign. In other parts of the country soldiers have sealed off designated rally points.
