Rosemary Sibanda the woman at the centre of adultery claims against Roman Catholic Archbishop Pius Ncube, died last week Friday of pneumonia.

She was admitted to Mpilo Hospital on Wednesday before succumbing to the disease 2 days later.

Sibanda shot to prominence after admitting on state television that she had an affair with fierce Mugabe critic Archbishop Ncube.

In a carefully worked out state-sponsored sting operation, Mugabe’s government extracted the maximum amount of public damage for Ncube by splashing out details of the affair in the state media.

Sibanda’s estranged husband Onesimo Sibanda filed a Z$5 trillion lawsuit claiming damages claiming loss of ‘love, comfort and society’ and that Ncube’s relationship with his wife had infected him with the deadly HIV virus that causes AIDS.

Archbishop Ncube was later forced to step down from his position as head of the church in Bulawayo and has since taken on a less prominent role within the church.

In a recent TV interview with Frontline Television Ncube admitted he had indeed slept with the woman despite earlier blaming a sting operation by Mugabe’s government.
