MDC-T door-to-door activists denied bail

HARARE – Nineteen MDC-T activists, who were arrested in Hatcliffe last week while on a door-to-door voter registration campaign, were on Tuesday denied bail and remanded in custody to May 14th. The state appeared not ready to proceed with the case.

Theresa Makone’s daughter commits suicide

Nyarai Makone, the 32 year old daughter of co-Home Affairs Minister Theresa Makone has committed suicide by hanging herself today. Her father is Ian Makone, one of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s key advisers.

Sibanengi Dube is a former student leader who later became a journalist in both Zimbabwe and South Africa. He has also previously served as MDC-T spokesman in South Africa.

HARARE – Police commissioner-general Augustine Chihuri is involved in a nasty fight with women activists who claim police are forcing them to remove their underwear in dirty police holding cells, while withholding sanitary wear for menstruating women.
