B-Kay & Kazz: 02/10/09
This week Lance Guma chats to Kazz from the group B-Kay & Kazz. On Friday the group flew out to Germany to film a video with Zimbabwean rapper Carlprit from the group Cascada, who are riding high with the worldwide chart-topping Evacuate the Dancefloor. The show previews B-Kay & Kazz’s new single Amina Kadeya. Kazz also talks about the shows they have lined up in Belgium, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Malawi. In December they are due to launch a new album titled Boomslang. Click here to listen

Lance Guma speaks to gospel music diva Fungisai Zvakavapano who paid a visit to the SW Radio Africa studios. Fungisai talks about her shows in the United Kingdom and how surprised she has been at the enthusiastic response she has received. Her backin…g singer, Rumbie Ndoro, is also featured on the programme and talks about her work with Fungisai. This week On the Pulse Lance Guma speaks to UK based singer/songwriter Sahara C. With smooth vocals, and an ‘old school’ tone, she is an emergent talent that is getting noticed quickly. David Scobie: 19/06/09

Legendary singer David Scobie is the guest On the Pulse and speaks to Lance Guma and Brilliant Pongo. As a fresh-faced 15 year old Scobie unleashed his hit song ‘Gypsy Girl’ in 1980 and this was to remain at number one for 4 months in Zimbabwe. He has also produced some of the best jingles for products, including Chibuku, Kiddy Bank, Spinalong and North Star. Now based in Scotland Scobie is part of a musical act called Brogue with another Zimbabwean, Brigitte Rodrigues.  Click Here to Listen

Flavour P: 12/06/09

Several months ago On the Pulse played an ‘angry song’ entitled ‘Ndi Mugabe. The anonymous artist spoke about the murder of political opponents and the destruction of the economy under Mugabe’s regime. After searching high and low Lance Guma and Brilliant Pongo managed to track the singer down. Prince Desire Magomo. a.k.a Flavour P. is the voice behind that angry young man whose song proved so popular on social networking sites Facebook and YouTube. Brilliant also gives the programme feedback on the Mechanic Manyeruke show in the UK last weekend. Listen Here

Tendai Sean Joe: 05/06/09

With millions of children living and working on the streets without food, education and shelter Tendai Joe, a former Zimbabwean street kid and his photographer friend Albert Arcona from South Africa, have decided enough is enough. The two are embarking on a road trip by motorbike from Cape Town to London, to try to raise the R10 million needed to build a village for street kids. Demachena On the Pulse-15-05-09

This week Lance Guma speaks to Luis Gimenez and Rugare Musikavanhu from the band Demachena. The two are part of a musical trio who play versions of traditional mbira music from Zimbabwe, as well as fusions of Latin, Katanga, Saharaui and Aborigine music. Rassie Ai On the Pulse- 17-04-09

Lance Guma and Brilliant Pongo preview the debut album from Rassie AI entitled ‘Return To Life’. Rassie says the album, ‘is a therapy for the loss of my brother that perpetually haunts me. So in a way it is his, because his spirit inspired it and led throughout its production.’ Kudakwashe Musasiwa who is part of the KYN record label that produced the album came onto the show to talk about Rassie’s work. He tells the show rather proudly they made sure, ‘the music was peppered by haunting and enchanting mbiras, endearing snares, African percussion and folksy acoustic guitar work.’ Click to Listen

Mare recently signed up to UK talent contest Live and Unsigned and is in line to win a £20,000 recording contract after sailing through the first round. The programme throws a challenge to music producers to tap into this wasted talent and see if they can make them marketable artists like the late Paul Matavire.
