Billiat to leave for free

Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Khama Billiat will now likely leave the South African Premiership at the end of the season for free. The Zimbabwean international will see out his current deal which expires at the end of June 2018 and will be a free agent.

It seems the Brazilians have come to terms with Billiat’s imminent departure after several attempts to tie down the 27-year-old to a new and improved contract. Several clubs are said to be interested in the services of the Chloorkop star as he has been seeking a move abroad since June of last year.

Billiat is an integral component of the Brazilians squad as his partnership with Percy Tau have seen the club maintain their dominance at the summit of the Absa Premiership log. Sport24 reported during the January transfer window that Orlando Pirates were keen on luring the player away from Masandawana.

The Buccaneers were willing to increase Billiat’s salary from R160 000 a month to R200 000. Meanwhile, Djurgardens IF Director of Sport Bo Andersson stated clearly that the club has no interest in signing the Sundowns star.

“We know of Khama, we know that he is a good player, but it would be very difficult to bring him here. As far as I’m concerned they are just rumours,” Andersson told the Soccer Laduma website.
