DYNAMOS believe fate is smiling on them again and they could end up being crowned league champions this season after they squeezed into second place in the race for the title.

The Glamour Boys could take pole position tomorrow after DeMbare managed to squeeze back into second place with a better goal difference over Ngezi Platinum and could be back at the top tomorrow if the two platinum sides cancel out each other.

DeMbare will have to beat relegated Bantu Rovers at Barbourfields to take over pole position tomorrow, in the event of a draw at Maglas, with Lloyd Mutasa and his men taking control of the race.

“We are in the race and it’s not a secret that we want to win the title this year,” said Dynamos team manager Richard Chihoro. Only two points separate us with the leaders FC Platinum with two games to play so there is everything to fight for.

We just have to focus on winning all our matches and the good thing is that FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum will meet each other in their next game. We hope for the best from that match.’’

FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is keeping his cool as he prepares for the blood-and-thunder showdown which will pit his FC Platinum against Ngezi Platinum at Mandava tomorrow. The game could decide this year’s league championship race.

“We have to manage our recovery periods. We have to give the guys some time to recover so that when we play against Ngezi the guys will be sharp and raring to go,” said Mapeza.

FC Platinum are enjoying a two-point cushion going into the penultimate after their nearest rivals experienced mixed fortunes on Wednesday.

Ngezi Platinum played out a 2-2 draw against Chicken Inn as the title contest narrowed down to a three-horse race which also involves perennial title contenders Dynamos.

Tonderai Ndiraya’s Ngezi were at the top before the midweek games but they slid into third place after they dropped crucial points at home against the Gamecocks who had also harboured ambitions of winning the title.

“Though we don’t have control any more, I think we are still very much in the mix. We just have to dust ourselves up and focus on the next match.

I think mentally we have to work on our team so that we forget this game (against Chicken Inn) and focus on that encounter. I still believe we are still in it. We just have to go to Mandava with a polished mind and try and get a result there.

We just have to win to have any chances of clinching the title. So we are not dropping our heads.

“We still have our heads held high up with a lot of confidence and we just have to go there and do the best we can to get the desired maximum points. It’s not going to be easy but it can be done,” said Ndiraya.

The Mhondoro side will miss one of their key players Tichaona Mabvura who lost his father last Sunday. Mabvura has been one of the most influential players this season with eight goals to his credit and several assists but was unavailable for the Chicken Inn game.

“Mabvura has been one of our best players this season. He has provided the team with eight goals so far and a lot of assists and that tells you how important that player is to the team. The Herald
