As the chanter shuttled between one venue and the other to shut down the Harare Agricultural show – on one of Harare’s busiest weekends in showbiz thus far – his relatives and friends were securing his bride – at a traditional ceremony that took place in Kuwadzana on Saturday. An ecstatic Bounty Lisa broke the news to Showbiz soon after the formalities.

“It happened today (26 August) at my parents’ home in Kuwadzana. It’s been four years since we fell in love. Soul’s brother Ba Paris came accompanied by his two uncles who acted as the go-betweens (vanyai),” said Lisa.

She added: “The go-between parted with a dowry of $9 000 in cash. They were later joined by DJ Spicey T, Sammy and his close friend Discord of music group Mafrique after all the formalities were done.

“On my side was my proud mum and dad, my dad’s two sisters and my mum’s brother who helped my brothers Banda and DJ Jefferson with the formalities.”

After the lobola had been paid, the two families celebrated before manager Benji Nyandoro rushed Bounty Lisa and Soul Jah Love to shows where he was billed to perform.

Soul Jah Love and Bounty Lisa got engaged in front of thousands in April 2014 at a show which took place at the Harare Gardens, organised by Devine Assignments.

However, the couple had a series of nasty break ups afterwards and it was also alleged that Chibaba, as Soul Jah Love is known, had paid $10 as lobola to Lisa’s mother.

On their last separation, Bounty Lisa moved to Cape Town amid allegations that Soul Jah Love had, in addition to verbally abusing Bounty Lisa, also mocked his wife-to-be’s mother.

But, the Zvinhu hit singer, who looks like he is gradually putting his house in order by engaging a new professional manager, Nyandoro, is also taking care of his domestic affairs by visibly making mature decisions.
