Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez is determined to join Arsenal this summer, according to reports.
Roma are also interested in signing the Algeria international but The Sun on Sunday claims the midfielder will reject the Serie A club in order to force a move to Arsene Wenger’s side.
Mahrez is also willing to delay is Leicester exit until later on in the window once Arsenal have made a final decision over Alexis Sanchez.
Leicester have put a £50 million valuation on the 26-year-old but it’s claimed that Arsenal could strike a deal for around £35m.
Arsenal are keen to sign Thomas Lemar but Monaco value the France international at £80 million and have rejected three bids from the Gunners so far.
Mahrez has already admitted that he wants to leave Leicester this summer and Craig Shakespeare confirmed this week that an offer from Roma had been rejected.
‘I think I was quoted as saying on the last press day there had been no bids,’ said the Leicester boss.
‘There has been a bid from Roma. I was told afterwards so I want to put the record straight.
‘It was politely declined on the basis it was a low offer.
‘What that offer was don’t ask me because I don’t know and I don’t get involved in that.’ Metro
