Mutizwa back at Golden Arrows

Zimbabwe international forward Knox Mutizwa has begun training with Golden Arrows while negotiations over his future continue.

Mutizwa’s one-year loan deal with the club expired when the season ended and he returned home to his club Bidvest Wits.

But with Wits coach Gavin Hunt enjoying many options upfront where he has players such as Gabadhino Mhango, James Keene, Eleazar Rodgers and Phakamani Mahlambi, it seems the club did not require his services for the forthcoming campaign.

Wits also believe Mutizwa’s interests will be best served at a club where he plays regularly and gets to grips with the demands of Super Diski.

And yesterday KickOff.com revealed that the former Highlanders man was back at the club after he was spotted training with the Durban side.

The player’s manager Gibson Mahachi told our correspondent that talks over a new deal were taking place between Mutizwa’s parent club and Golden Arrows.

“The issue is being handled, discussed now. He was on loan for one year and has a two-year contract with Wits. Arrows have shown interest that they are still keen on his services and the issue now is whether they can get him back on loan or on a permanent basis as they are very willing.

“At the end of the day he is going back there, either on loan basis or permanently,” he said.

Mahachi said the player has also attracted attention from other quarters following his performance for the Warriors during the Cosafa Castle cup. He was named player of the tournament.  The Chronicle
