The vehicle which hit the man who is yet to be identified, sped off from the scene following the accident which occurred near Tategulu Primary School in the suburb at around 2AM on Thursday.

Acting Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

Asst Insp Ncube said the man, who is in a coma at Mpilo Central Hospital, did not have any particulars on him when the accident occurred.

“We are appealing to families with any missing persons to check with the hospital. We also appeal to anyone with any information that may lead to the arrest of the culprit to contact the Officer in Charge Bulawayo West Traffic on 09-412953 or any nearest police station,” said Asst Insp Ncube.

The hit and run accident follows another one that occurred on November 19 that left Mr Lot Ncube (18) hospitalised.

A vehicle with South African number plates allegedly hit him and sped off in Nkulumane suburb, leaving him in a pool of blood.

He sustained serious head injuries, broke his neck and left leg and has been in a coma at Mpilo Central Hospital ever since. Chronicle
