Magaya was arrested in late August and taken to court for allegedly raping a student congregant at a house in Mount Pleasant in Harare in July 2015.

He spent a night at Rhodesville Police Station and was released on $2,000 bail.

Also as part of his bail conditions, Magaya was initially ordered to report to the police three times a week but this was reduced to once every Friday, with the magistrate noting that the PHD leader had a busy schedule. Nehanda Radio
