Public memorial to honour the life of kwaito star Mandoza

A public memorial service will be held on Wednesday in honour of South African kwaito legend Mandoza, who died on Sunday afternoon.

As the entire country still comes to terms with the music icon’s death, his family called a press conference on Monday in Soweto.

It was revealed at the press conference that a public memorial service will be held in his honour on Wednesday at midday, which will be followed by a funeral service on Saturday.

Mandoza’s family have welcomed fans to join them in paying tribute to the icon. The memorial service will take place at Ellis Park.

The logistics of the funeral service which will take place on Saturday will be communicated during the week.

Madoza’s wife, Mpho, was not at the press conference but her brother Lebogang Mphuti spoke on her behald, saying she appreciates all the love the family has received from fans.

“My sister appreciates all the love through this trying time.”

Lebogang went on to urge people to respect the family’s privacy in this difficult time and to allow the family to bury their loved one with respect.
