Joice Mujuru the stone they threw away – Ken Mufuka

By Professor Ken Mufuka

Among my cherished memories is the fact that I was a witness to the great events that have turned our beloved Zimbabwe upside down.

Our readers can be forgiven if they missed or get by-passed by two revelations that have come out of the confrontations between the powers-that-be and their long-time devil enforcers of their regime.

Of course all this came after a marathon research that lasted 0 years and two manuscripts thrown into a rubbish pit.

The first realisation made by the war veterans came from a simple question. The ZANU-PF leadership had channelled their liberation pathos for four decades, but to what purpose?
The answer given by the war veterans though revelatory is not sufficient.

When they put their heads together, after 36 years of being used as the devil’s supplicants, they found to their “shock and dismay the systematic entrenchment of dictatorial tendencies,” which have devalued the vales of the liberation struggle.

At last, the brothers had grasped the meaning of repression, simply put, harsh and cruel treatment of people by those in power. The memo was released on July 21. All the four Quill Club brothers I was hanging out with had copies.

This is significant because when evening news broke, and in subsequent indabas, the issues listed in the memo were not dealt with.

It appeared that the memo had been written by invisible hands. The reaction, as usual, was to seek out the writers and throw “the full force of the law”.

The other significance is that when the war veterans came together, and shared their stories, each and every one of them had been used to further a purpose which compromised their integrity.

I had warned Brother Christopher Mutsvangwa well before his demise that he was being used as a tool. My prophecy was vindicated. My information is that Mutsvangwa’s attack on Sister Joice Mujuru was hatched in the central boardroom.

After Mutsvangwa had been used, he and his wife were discarded. Now the same drama is being re-enacted by sisters Sarah Mahoka and Mandi Chimene. It is only when loyal and faithful men meet, and each tells his story of being discarded after committing some dirty work that the Damascus revelation begins to penetrate their thick heads.

After using you, the system will get rid of you. So it was with Edgar Tekere, so it was with Josiah Tongogara, so it was with Joshua Nkomo and so it was with Edison Zvobgo.

Zvobgo told me of a story when trade unionist Morgan Tsvangirai was breathing fire and brimstone. He was assigned thus: “The party relies on your gifts, Edison; you are the only one who can save us from this scourge of perpetual work strikes.”

Zvobgo said after he had calmed the situation, he never heard from the individual who gave him the assignment for more than a year. Edison was a darling in times of trouble, but an irritant in normal times.

The war veterans, at last, came upon this revelation. The fact that the “party is fragmented, with so-called formations, is clearly deliberate, again to outfox perceived rivals. It’s a divide and rule tactic that has worked for many years.

A veteran told me that he was beaten up like a dog, something he apparently had never experienced before. The beatings of innocent citizens have reached a point of diminishing returns. Instead of fear, they bring contempt on the regime.

Relying on proven methods of divide and rule, a distasteful plan was put into motion, to dislodge former vice president Mujuru from her position. Former United States president, Abraham Lincoln, once said one can fool people sometime, but not all the time.

The “Gamatox faction” had to be created from nowhere, its so-called members being charged with all sorts of crimes, including treason. We had all given up hope, believing that the war veterans had been brainwashed and become reprobate.

Indeed, there is a God in heaven. So the stone (Mujuru) that was thrown away, without cause, has become the cornerstone of the new movement. My Japanese twin, Ken Yamamoto, suggests that by the end of the year something would have happened.

The special circumstance, asserts Yamamoto, so many factors have combined to make the situation untenable. As if to confirm this, all the disgruntled cadres are wending their way to Mujuru’s mansion. I too had several discussions with her assistants. She was willing to listen to my observations. Being the least of the saints, I found that flattering.

Her silence, in the midst of spurious barrages from ZANU-PF attack dogs, with hired fools and court jesters proved that she was made of sterner stuff.

When I saw that there was a realisation that great injustices had been done, I went into my tent and asked that I be given a little more time to witness the salvation of Zimbabwe.
In the long run, the truth shall be there for all to see. Financial Gazette
