Last month Michael Titus Igweh’s sister-in-law, alleged police had applied electricity to his private parts to force him to confess to heroin possession and said his final request had been to see his wife and family for the last time.

Indonesia executed four convicted drug traffickers, including three Nigerians, last month as it pushed ahead with its “war against drugs”, although another 10 scheduled executions were delayed. The government ignored international calls for clemency.

Attorney General Muhammad Prasetyo said “Our battle against drug crimes is not over and it will continue. We will maintain our commitment, our firmness and our consistency.”

Around 152 people remain on death row in Indonesia, including convicted drug traffickers from the Philippines, France and Britain, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
