In a video, Yeatmen apologised for Emberton’s “mistaken” arrest at Letombo Spar Supermarket recently, saying the incident was “unfortunate and embarrassing”.

He blamed his security team for the arrest, saying there was a mix-up linked to the dementia.

“There was an incident in one of our stores with Mr Dave Emberton. We acknowledge as Spar that we could have handled the incident differently.

“From the Spar side we have apologised for the way things were handled and we hope this can go a long way,” said the managing director.

He appealed to the British embassy to grant Emberton’s new wife, Melody Kumora, a visa to travel with her husband to the UK where life would be better for the couple.

“Mr Emberton has recently gotten married this year to a beautiful wife and they really are trying to get to go back to Britain. Dave’s got a British passport and they would like to settle there,” said Yeatman.

“His wife has been denied a visa two or three times, I think it is, so we are appealing to the British High Commission that please acknowledge Mr Emberton’s request for his wife to get a visa to relocate to the UK.

“The Emberton family does feel he would be best helped in the UK,” he added.

Dave is one of the longest serving and highly rated broadcasters of yesteryear and seems to have fallen on hard times. Nehanda Radio
