Lady Squanda finally apologises for assault in dramatic U-turn

After initially taking a defiant stance, public pressure has forced Zim Dancehall singer Lady Squanda, to issue a public apology for a sickening assault of comedian Tatenda Matika (Abra Skimbo) which was captured on video.

In a Facebook post Lady Squanda said “First, I am sorry that I have to greet you all for this sort of scandalous incident. And I am sincerely sorry that I have to cause this much drama to my fans. However, I only have myself to blame with all of my carelessness, causing this scandal after I have been carried away wth emotions, which lead me to a bad decision with my fellows I am a human being apart that I am a public eye, To all my fans who continue in believing in me makes it clear to me that I have made a big mistake.”

“I can’t dare to say anything but apologize for this incident and showing you all disappointment, and in the future I will avoid these kinds of situations and I will sincerely reflect, as a after 8 member and work harder and harder to become a better person.

“Many fans have already gotten wounds and hurt hearts from what my actions have done, and I can only apologize for that. I hope my fans can once again believe in me and my efforts. Once again, I would like to say to my fans that I am sincerely sorry.

Yesterday Lady Squanda was not apologetic about her actions saying she has been wronged by Skimbo. “He has been dissing me for some time now. Ndirikuda kutomuwedzera kupfuura ipapo,” she said before hanging up her phone.

Narrating his ordeal, Skimbo said the musician called him asking for a collaboration and he agreed. Squanda reportedly visited Matika at his place and asked him to get in her car and listen to the song they were to collaborate on.

Upon getting into the car, Squanda, who was accompanied by three men, drove off and parked in St Mary’s where the assault happened before they dumped him.

“They were recording the video while beating me. She also said I would be arrested since she is well connected,” he said.

Another video has since emerged showing Squanda along with two male accomplices inside a moving vehicle planning the kidnap and assault of Skimbo.

In a video leaked online, Skimbo appeared to have been bundled into a vehicle and was being assaulted while trapped in the back seat. Squanda delivers several blows to the head while being emboldened by the man filming the attack who was also helping in the assault.

From the exchanges it appears Squanda was offended by a comedy sketch done by Skimbo, who presents Ziso Regondo TV, in which he made reference to a story covered by the newspapers alleging that the singer had stolen items from a lodge she was booked in.

Towards the end of the video Skimbo is forced to lick below Squanda’s foot (she was not wearing any shoes). He is also forced to say his name while the video is being recorded and made to promise he will never do another sketch on Squanda for his TV show.

Promoter Simbarashe “BodySlam” Chakare moved swiftly and announced that he had dropped Lady Squanda from the list of artists touring the UK in September.

“Bodyslam UK Tour Madirirano team watched Lady Squanda Video of abuse, we are truly upset and we don’t encourage such behaviour therefore she is totally removed from the touring team for September, will try to fix the lineup with some1 who is suitable,” he said.

In an ironic twist to the saga Chakare announced that Skimbo would now be replacing Squanda on the UK tour. “Bodyslam Uk Tour Madirirano team have replaced Sqaunda with Skimbo and Darula final decision pamamonya ipapo topinda,” he said in a statement.
