After making headlines by calling his congregants satanists, Marshall Muyambo of AFM and Southlea park central assembly yesterday hauled 20 congregants to the Harare Civil court seeking a peace order against them.

In the filing the affidavit, Muyambo accused the 20 congregants of disturbing the peace and the activities of the church.

“The respondents are insulting board members and visiting pastors who come to conduct church services. They use obscene language in front of peace loving congregants and young children. The respondents sing revolutionary songs during church services, blowing whistles and throwing stones at the church while service is in progress.

“They are also vandalising church property and some of these criminal activities have since been reported to the police,” reads part of the affidavit. Magistrate Barbra Mateko deferred the matter to April 8 for the 20 respondents to find a legal practitioner.

In an interview, some of the respondents said Muyambo was a puppet being used by Overseer Amos Nyika Chinyemba who is running against Reverend Johannes Nehanda in their 2016 church elections.

They also accused Muyambo of being a greedy person who will do anything for money since they alleged he is being paid by Nehanda to do away with anyone who doesn’t support him.

“This man is an unreliable person who is just after money, he is an ex-convict and a liar who is being used,” a source said.

In response to the allegations made by congregants Muyambo said:

“We want to worship the Lord and we will continue to worship.”
