Chinotimba chases ‘longest kiss’ record

HARARE – Organisers of the “longest kiss” contest have said Buhera South Zanu PF legislator Joseph Chinotimba has confirmed his participation in the smooching competition scheduled for Harare next month.

The event is being organised by Book of African Records and will see passionate couples lock lips in an attempt to break the record for the world’s longest continuous kiss..

Marketing officer Gwen Myers told journalists that the remarkable event is pencilled for Valentine’s Day on February 14 at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.

“We are expecting 50 couples,” Myers said.

“Only those legally married will contest in the longest kiss and the winners will receive allowances and a chance to be documented in the Book of African Records set to be published in March.

“Of those 50 couples, a number of celebrities have confirmed their participation in the event and these include Chinotimba. The contest will start at 1300hrs.”

A number of local artists, including comedian Carl Joshua Ncube and Afro jazz song bird Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana will also participate.

Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat of Thailand are currently the holders of the world record of the longest kiss which lasted 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds.
