She was supposed to get $2 000 and three month’s supply of Black Opal skincare and Cosmetics products for coming out as the second princess at the Bofoz.

Tatenda Mutseyekwa, marketing director for Black Opal Zimbabwe said they did not want to operate in bad faith with their client, Edgars.

“The prize-giving ceremony took place but we did not give her the prizes as her court case is still pending. We will only be able to start working with her when the courts of Zimbabwe have finalised her case. Our lawyers are also on the case, so we will act with their guidance.

“Edgars is our client and they are the complainants. Some of the promotions and advertisements that are done are conducted with them so we decided not to engage Mercy in the Bofoz operations until the case is finalised.

“This is the safest way for us to operate but we are in good books with her. She was even at the prize-giving ceremony and we explained to her that the court case had to be resolved first,” he said.

Kamanura was allegedly found with a jumpsuit at Edgars First Street which had its price tag removed. She is said to have claimed to have bought it from the store’s Joina City branch.

When a price tag from the jumpsuit was found in a changing room she had used, the model is said to have written a statement apologising and admitting to the crime.

However, after a recent court appearance she pleaded not guilty and appealed for a discharge. Her ruling date has been set for November 24. Daily News
