BULAWAYO – Highlanders coach Amini Soma-Phiri is confident that, against all odds, Bosso will finish the season in a respectable position on the table.

Bosso are 10th on the standings with just six games to go, 21 points adrift of leaders Chicken Inn, having recorded just a single win in their last six games.

Despite being faced with a mammoth task, Soma-Phiri, who is slowly winning the hearts of the players with his approach to the game even though results have not come as expected, said he remained confident Amahlolanyama will turn the corner in the last games.

“We will be in a respectable position, that I can assure you,” said Soma-Phiri at a press conference on Thursday. He said they were already geared up for their next game against an almost-relegated Dongo Sawmill who visit Barbourfields Stadium after the weekend break due to the Chibuku Super Cup semifinals at Mandava Stadium today and tomorrow.

“As I have said before, these boys are excellent but I have noted that there is a virus at Highlanders, a virus that needs to be extinguished quickly and I’m working on that.

“My boys lack that fighting spirit which Bosso have been known for but I’m happy that they seem to be responding well,” said Soma-Phiri.

Even though he has already dropped six points after he predicted to score 27 points, the former Bosso player and manager still put up a brave face and said he was not looking forward to losing any of their remaining games.

“What kind of a person will I be if I say we are expecting to lose in the coming games? So yes, I’m positive of doing well in the coming games, beginning with our next fixture against Dongo Sawmill,” he said.

Bosso begin their quest for survival with a home tie against Dongo Sawmill, travel to tricky Chapungu United in Gweru, play host to Buffaloes before driving 335KM to the Colliery Stadium for a date with Hwange.

Their last two games will be at Barbourfields Stadium against Tsholotsho and ZPC Kariba. The Chronicle
