Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema received a rousing welcome from the party’s supporters packing the Olympia Stadium in Rustenburg, North West, for the party’s second-year anniversary celebration.
The formal programme of the event started with a prayer. A pastor said Malema will be the president of South Africa.
“Either you like it or not, Malema will be the president of South Africa,” the pastor said. “God has created Malema to lead South Africa.”
Earlier, the city centre was awash with red as EFF supporters were making their way to the stadium. Security is tight as city law enforcement officers, members of the SA Police Service (SAPS), private security and EFF marshals maintained law and order.
At exactly midnight, the Rustenburg sky will be lit up with colourful fireworks and maybe champagnes. Started in July 26 2013, the EFF is the official opposition in North West.
