While, former South Africa U20 defender, Marcelo Mendes, is also on trial with the Cape-Based side.

Chidewu plies his trade in Zimbabwe for Highlanders FC, while Mendes previously played in Denmark and the Urban Warriors coach reveals they’ve been impressive.

“It will be very difficult to top what we did last season, because we achieved something great with a very young squad, but we look on course to going that route again,” De Sa told the club’s official website.

“We have two good players on trial with us, Thomas Chidewu, Zimbabwean who is a striker from Highlanders FC and Marcelo Mendes, he’s a defender who played in Denmark but is also a South African U20 player.  They have been impressive and have loads of potential, but they are both 19-years-old and are good players for the future.”

De Sa added that he was pleased to see players from U19 side step-up in pre-season training.

“It’s also been pleasing to see how our U19 players have stepped up since they’ve started training with the first team. They are doing really well and done their part to show up in training. Of cause I’ll look to add two or three more experienced players to the squad. We’ll need a bit more metal, or a bit more muscle if you wanna call it that.”

“From the start of July, we always expect other teams to be more aggressive in their approach to sign some players and of course there will be teams looking at some of our players. We’ll be looking for a centre back and a striker to boost our squad,” concluded De Sa. Soccer Laduma
