The former Shooting Stars defender was banned to play football for life after allegedly being one of the key players in the scandal that rocked Zimbabwe football in 2012.

The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa), however, bungled the investigations and the world football governing body, Fifa refused to endorse the sanctions.

Zhokinyi was however, sidelined from 2012 until only a few weeks ago when Zifa finally pardoned him.

“Definitely, I am coming back in the Premier League; there are also some teams that I know with my ability, I can fit in well,” Zhokinyi told the Daily News on Sunday.

“I still need to play for Dynamos and if they open the door for me as you know DeMbare is a big team everyone wants to play for this club.”

“I also want to revive my career playing in the premier league and I think everything is possible as you know I am still 32 so I think I have some years to play.”

The Chitungwiza-born defender feels he still has what it takes to make it in the Premiership.

“My target is to sharpen my talent again so that I finish my career in style. I have never been to the stadium since the ban,” he said.

“For the past two years I never stopped training so I am still fit to play for 90 minutes. Sometimes I used to watch local matches on television but I come to ignore watching PSL games.

“It was hurting me to see other players enjoying themselves and earning a living on the football pitch.”

The former Warriors captain says he does not hold any grudges with anyone and would like to move on with his live by resurrecting his career.

“On the ban, I will not say much because it’s water under the bridge; everything happens for a reason and I learned much about life during the ban,” he said.

Zhokinyi was the third person to be acquitted of any wrong doing in Asiagate scandal after goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda and coach Sunday Chidzambwa had their ban lifted in recent weeks. Daily News
