This comes barely a week after another key official, former secretary general Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga resigned from her influential post.

In a letter seen by Nehanda Radio, Chamunorwa said he has failed to reconcile with events that have been happening in the party.

“The events that have taken place in the party in recent weeks and the inconsistencies that have bogged the party leave me with no other choice but resign from my vice chairman as post from henceforth,” reads the letter.

Chamunorwa said he is resigning after he has been fingered in the plot to oust Ncube as the party prepares for reunification with another MDC break away : MDC Renewal which is led by the former MDC-T secretary general Tendai Biti.

“Mr president you know that traumatic experience I went through as a result of the senseless beatings I endured at the hands of the MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai because of my allegiance to you and my moral and steadfast belief in principles and values of MDC,” reads the letter.

“That today you cast aspersions over my loyalty both to you and the party is heart rending and unfortunate. You are aware that I have been embroiled in the so called gang of four which is being accused and credited with plotting against your leadership in the scenario of the unification process currently raging on.”

“The serious and dangerous insinuation that I could be party to the grand design to unseat you is not only absurd but ludicrous in mild terminology, renders my continued part if your team untenable.”

“These experiences of late have left me laden with this yoke of mistrust placed on me and leave me disillusioned and sad,” Chamunorwa wrote.
