Mathias Mhere exposed: Faked love triangle

HARARE – It has emerged that the much-hyped messy confrontation between singer Mathias Mhere and his wife Susan Dzinamarira was a mere “stage-managed” antic designed to market his latest album Glory To Glory.

NewsDay has it on good authority that the matter has even spilled to the police where Mhere was actually summoned for questioning at Harare Central Police Station after Gift Mahlupeka, the man who allegedly took the singer’s wife, made a report at the station.

“Mhere admitted that everything was stagemanaged. That is why he was quick to forgive the wife,” said the police officer who is close to the goings-on.

This publication has it on good authority that Mhere devised a plan to market his album sometime last year and roped in the services of his close friend Mahlupeka.

“The musician admitted that Gift knew that he was not chatting to Susan, but Mhere,” said the police officer.

Since the issue was first published, Mhere has been clandestinely meeting several arts journalists to do public relations for him.

“Mhere tasked me to craft a Press statement for him in which he acknowledges the incidents describing them as regrettable, painful, shameful and damaging to the brand Mhere, the gospel fraternity, Christian society and those who believe in him.

“He wanted to portray himself as a loving husband who was quick to forgive as enshrined in Christian values. He also hinted that he would sponsor one or two columns in newspapers where columnists will talk positively on his act of ‘forgiveness’,” said one of the journalists.

Everything was stagemanaged to make Mhere the super-hero while projecting Mahkupeka as the villain.

Contacted for comment Mahlupeka declined to shed enough details but acknowledged that he knew that he was chatting to Mhere instead of Susan.

“I knew that I was chatting to Mhere and it was part of the plan. We had to make sure in the chats that there was no evidence that I had a sexual encounter with Susan since it was going to be difficult for Mhere to forgive her,” he said.

Investigations showed that for the greater part of last year, Susan was pregnant and the plan coincided with her delivering the couple’s third child Shelton.

Away from the drama, Susan and Mathias seemed to be getting on well with each other as they were spotted dropping off their first born who is now in Grade Zero at Prospect Primary School.
