The arrest came after a tip-off from an informant and a subsequent sting operation involving Boksburg police and the Germiston Flying Squad, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Juanita Coetzer, the woman was found with 50 dosages of schedule six Pethidine – a drug only administered in hospitals.

She was also found with 47 packets of Rifampicin Isoniazid, 839 Micro Cortin tablets, needles, a black toy gun and a doctor’s stamp.

The value of the illegal medication is still unknown, and police investigations are ongoing.

Last month, Limpopo police arrested two women at the BeitBridge border post after they were caught trying to enter South Africa with ingredients used to manufacture drugs.

The women, Zimbabwean and Lesotho nationals, were stopped and searched as they were walking into the country from Zimbabwe.

They were found carrying more than 18kg of ephedrine, one of the main substances in heroin. The ephedrine was reportedly valued at around R8 million. Caxton News Service
