Sharon Macheso files for divorce

HARARE – Sharon Macheso, daughter to popular sungura musician Alick, has filed for divorce barely three months after tying the knot with husband Kudakwashe Munetsi.
The two were embroiled in a bitter domestic dispute, resulting in Sharon filing domestic violence charges against her husband.
Judgment in the case will be delivered at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts on November 11.
“The marriage relationship between plaintiff (Sharon) and defendant (Kudakwashe) has irretrievably broken down and there is no reasonable prospect of the restoration of a normal marriage relationship between them,” Sharon said in her summons filed by her lawyer Norman Mugiya yesterday.
In the summons, Sharon said the relationship cannot be mended, considering that Kudakwashe physically assaulted her. She further said Kudakwashe committed adultery.
“The parties have not lived as husband and wife for over one month now, given the fact that the marriage is hardly three months old,” reads part of the summons.
“The plaintiff has lost all love and affection towards defendant.”
In the summons, Sharon said they had not acquired any assets of value, except for a few wedding gifts, most of which had not yet been delivered to them.
“It is therefore fair and just that each party retains the items in its possession at the time of the filing of the summons,” she said.
Sharon said she was pregnant and that Kudakwashe was responsible for the pregnancy.
Kudakwashe is denying responsibility for the pregnancy, saying he has not been intimate with his wife because she was on medication for a venereal disease.
In the summons, Sharon is demanding a decree of divorce and that Kudakwashe pays her maintenance in the sum of $400 every month until she dies or remarries.
The couple’s divorce became nastier after the exchange of scurrilous accusations. Kudakwashe claims Sharon is an attention-seeking person, adding that he did not know she was pregnant.
On the other hand, Sharon claims her husband is a drug abuser.
“…he has a penchant for drinking Bron Cleer, he also smokes cannabis and abuses amtriplin pills. After taking these drugs, he becomes violent, uncooperative and acts in an unbecoming manner,” she said. Daily News
