Live Updates: Zanu PF Politburo meeting

The meeting was set to deal with the fall out from First Lady Grace Mugabe’s vicious public attacks on Vice President Joice Mujuru which have angered many party supporters.

The meetings are closed to journalists but below we summarize what we have picked up so far….

19:20: “Robert Mugabe currently chairing his Zanu PF politburo meeting using candles and Nokia 1100 torches, because Zesa has decided to show him the reality. He must now understand why he must step down!” Journalist and activist Itai Dzamara

*During the meeting, the Politburo was informed that the party has so far raised US$3 million against a target of US$8 million needed for the successful holding of the congress.

* “Politburo meeting ends prematurely due to a power cut when Oppah Muchinguri was presenting her report on the Women’s League rallies.” (Lawyer Lloyd Msipa)

* “We were looking at preparations for the congress. Cde S.K Moyo gave his report and everything seems to be on course. We also looked at the venue, it’s the City Sports Centre open grounds. Issue will be discussed next week on Wednesday after the outgoing Secretary for the Women’s League, Oppah Muchinguri, presents her report regarding the ‘Meet the People Rallies’ held recently by Grace Mugabe.
