SOUTH AFRICA – Kaizer Chiefs hardman Willard Katsande believes that the international break has been a blessing in disguise for his team, having allowed some of the squad members the opportunity to sake off the knocks.

The Zimbabwean has been ever-present in the Amakhosi midfield as they grabbed eight wins out of eight games so far this season, winning three in the MTN8 and five in the league.

While some may see the international break as a way of halting the club’s momentum, Katsande believes that it has worked in their favour.

Speaking to the media, Katsande said, “I think the break works in our favour, because we had a couple of knocks in our team and we have welcomed back the guys with injuries, so I think in that respect it’s a blessing in disguise for us.”

When asked about his personal performances this season, the midfield man added, “It’s so far so good for me, but always room for improvement. My game is trying to balance the team, which I think I’m doing. We’re conceding less and scoring more, which is a good sign for us as a team.

“It’s almost three years that this team has been playing together, so we understand each other well. With the injured players now coming back it makes sure there’s more competition, and competition makes the team stronger.”
