Gishon Ntini cries foul over treatment

Chiredzi FC gaffer Gishon Ntini is crying foul over the treatment his technical team were given at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare prior to the start of their Chibuku Super Cup first round match against Buffaloes on Sunday.

Ntini’s assistants, as well as the team medic, were barred from sitting in the dugout as they did not have the requisite PSL licences, leaving Ntini as the only team official on the bench.

However, with Ntini doubling up as team medic, Chiredzi FC edged their hosts 4-3 to qualify for the quarter-finals of the cup competition.

After the final whistle, Ntini accused football authorities of trying to undermine him.

“This thing is being mishandled. Moses Chunga was here from January with the same technical team that is assisting me here and it’s only myself who was not there,” said Ntini.

“If they were to bar me it would have been better, but to take the entire technical team which was here before is unfair. It’s unheard of. It means they are protecting someone and obviously that is (Moses) Chunga.

“l don’t have a problem with authorities implementing their policies but they should not twist their policies to favour other people.

“Obviously that’s the PSL I’m talking about. When I arrived (at Chiredzi FC) on July 20, I only had three days before we faced Buffaloes and it was me who was supposed to have been chased away, but they tried to stop my assistant coaches and medic from sitting on the bench and they are continuing to do that,” he said.

Following Sunday’s cup victory, Ntini, who has collected four points from four games since taking charge at Chiredzi FC late last month, leads the Lowveld outfit into another league battle against Chicken Inn at Chishamiso Stadium tomorrow.

Chicken Inn beat Chiredzi 1-0 in the first league clash between the sides at Luveve Stadium last June, a result Ntini, who is battling to save his troops from the dreaded chop, will be keen to overturn. The Zimbabwe Mail
