The idea behind the boot camp they said was to create an atmosphere of teamwork, creative thinking, confidence building and most important an understanding and knowledge of Zimbabwean culture and its heritage.

Last week the contestants were treated to a day of photo shoots and interviews from Marrie Jernie Media and Zimbo Live TV.  They received expert advice and catwalk training from Brenda Muparadzi Chivhange alongside Thembi Mangena Maphosa and life skills advice from Beritha Masawi Muzondo.

One of the contestants told Nehanda Radio “We got empowered and inspired. The sessions carried a high level of professionalism and at the same time there where fun and interaction. One of the best experiences ever. I am grateful for the help and the care that everyone showed. It was beautiful.”

This year the headline Fashion Designer for the Miss Zimbabwe UK 2014 pageant is Zuwa Re.

Beritha Masawi Muzondo, the Head Organiser for this year’s pageant, said, ”The girls enjoyed the whole experience that they are begging the organisers for another boot camp.”

Present on the day was Linda Satimburwa who is the CEO and founder of The Power of Business Network. She visited the contestants at Boot camp and held a talk on life skills, culture and heritage.

When asked by Vickie Storm during a Zimbo Live TV interview, Linda described the contestants to be confident and passionate about Zimbabwe and that this year a confident and deserving winner will be chosen.

The show this year is expected to sell out and with a special touch of the red carpet interviews, which will be held by Zimbo Live TV and broadcast, live on the internet.

At the completion of the boot camp, the contestants are expected to display self-confidence, awareness and an understanding of the Zimbabwean heritage, which they will be expected to uphold, respect and promote to the wider community.

This year’s Miss Zimbabwe UK will be held at the Quality Skyline Hotel in Luton, England on August 23 from 5pm till midnight.
