Go well my boy, says Pasuwa

He reckons the defender’s rising and often explosive temper were emanating from his continued misfortunes on the foreign transfer market.

But Partson Jaure finally landed a contract with Super Diski side University of Pretoria last week.

Prior to the Tuks deal, Jaure had been linked with a number of failed moves, especially after the 2012 season when his superb defending contributed immensely to DeMbare’s second consecutive title.

A proposed deal with a Turkish club did not materialise in 2013 while a possible move to Supersport United early this year did not work out despite Jaure’s commanding show at the 2014 CHAN finals where he skippered the Warriors to the semifinals.

“It was beginning to tell,” said Pasuwa.

“I could see the continued failure to land a foreign contract was starting to take its toll on the young man.

“He came to me after the CHAN finals and asked ‘coach is there something wrong with my style of play, am I cursed . . . most of my peers are going out of the country . . .what is wrong with me?’

“My fear was his anger would eventually cost him, you could see how he sometimes reacted to the referees’ decisions.

“So I sat him down and assured him his chance would come.”

Pasuwa also believes Jaure’s talent calls for a better league than the Super Diski but “circumstances in the local league are forcing players to cross the borders at any cost”.

“Initially, I didn’t want him to go to South Africa but straight to Europe, but you know the financial situation in our league is not that good.

“These players have families to feed so we have to sympathise with them. I can only wish Jaure the best of luck out there.

“I have told him ‘go and play your game, your style and the fans there will eventually appreciate you but above all discipline is key’,” said Pasuwa.

The three-time championship winning coach paid tribute to Jaure, whom he described as an asset and a vital cog in his success story.

“He served me diligently, he was a commander at the back and it is somehow painful to lose him but at the same time it is good that he has found a breakthrough. So, I can only say go well my boy,” said Pasuwa. Sunday Mail
