More than 50 people have been killed after a TransAsia Airways plane made an emergency landing in Taiwan’s Penghu county, a Taiwanese news agency reports.
TransAsia Airways’ GE222 flight was en-route from from Kaohsiung Siaogang Airport toPenghu’s Magong Airportwhen it made an emergency landing in Taiwan.
Taiwanese transportation authorities said the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at a village in Pengu County at 5:35 pm.
The plane caught fire “at the end of the runway” and the seven people injured were sent to a local hospital with burn injuries, Taiwan’s Central News Agency reports.
Local media report that the pilot was experiencing difficulties landing the plane in Pengue due to a Typhoon, which was ravaging the area.
