HARARE – Actress and former radio personality Tinopona Katsande says misplacing her passport cost her the chance to proceed to the second round of the 2014 Big Brother Africa (BBA) auditions.

Tino, as she is affectionately known by her fans, told the Daily News that she was disappointed for missing out on the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe on Africa’s premier reality television show which will kick off on September 7.

“I am really disappointed with myself; I have no one to blame but myself,” she told the Daily News.

“I really wanted to go because I feel that I am at a time that I know who I am.

“It started about four years ago with people telling me that I had to go and when I finally made up my mind to do it, this happens.”

The former Studio 263 actress added that a passport was a prerequisite for the second round of the auditions.

“What I know about Big Brother is that the selection process is legit so there was nothing they could do for me since I had no passport.

“With all the things I have been through, I feel that I am at a point where I know myself; where I know that anything can be thrown at me and I will survive.”

Before the interview, Tino had earlier shared her frustration on her Facebook page.

“I wasn’t going to share this but it dawned on me during my meditation this morning that a lot of us live with regret.

“Because we fail to accept the answers that God gives us when we ask for them,” she wrote.

“Over the weekend I finally auditioned for BBA and went along with other public personalities and some very talented individuals.

“I got a golden ticket to progress to stage two of the auditions. I had to return with my photos and passport for the next round.

“I kid you not before God and man I could not find my passport anywhere.

“I turned my house upside down but passport deng! So I figured what’s the point of going back when I’m not organised.

“So I didn’t go back to stage two with the others that were selected.

“Would I have made it into the house, well, I will never know?

“Would I have won the money if I had made it into the house — I will never know. Would I have grown my brand and career through the exposure — of course I would — and I still will!

“But what I do know is I prayed and fasted over going for BBA for a while and this is where I am today. My passport is always in the same place with my other legal documents and certificates.

This time, however, it wasn’t. It turned out, my house help placed it in a bag when she was doing laundry after my recent Johannesburg trip.

“I do not blame her at all. I should have been more responsible with it when I returned.” Daily News
