It’s do or die on Saturday as Multichoice judges and panellists are in the capital for auditioning of Zimbabwe’s aspiring and would-be contestants for BBA season 9.

Hundreds of the said youths will be battling it out at Meikles Hotel in the capital at the preliminary round before heading for South Africa for another possible auditions.

Multichoice publicist Elizabeth Dziva, however, warned contestants not to overestimate or under estimate themselves entering today’s first round of the auditions.

“There is a lot of excitement at the moment and those who think have got what it takes to be this year’s contestants should be well prepared because the panellists have the final say,” said Dziva.

“The idea of having panellists from participating countries was meant to avoid favouritism, and noone is guaranteed a place until the panellists unveil possible names from Saturday ’s auditions,” she said.

She also reiterated that no one has an automatic ticket to qualify for this year’s season 9 amid revelations that a coterie of musicians and celebs were gunning to represent Zimbabwe.

As preparations for the much awaited BBA Season 9 are at an advanced stage, social media is also awash with all sorts of BBA related activities as hundreds of Zimbabwean youths have launched ‘Send a picture and a brief background if think you got it all for Season 9’ campaign on Zimbabwe’s BBA Facebook page.

Dziva, however, castigated the move citing that it was giving Zimbabweans a wrong impression on how the auditions are done.

“I am sure my dear Zimbabweans by this time should have been well versed with the criteria Multichoice use for one to get a ticket to enter into the competition. Those who think the panellists look for beautiful and handsome boys and girls should change their mind set and stop fooling each other,” said Dziva.

“BBA Season 9’s hype and excitement has gone too far and in regard to the recently launched said Facebook campaigns where aspiring contestants are posting their pictures on a page believed to be Zimbabwe’s BBA official page, I think that is wrong. Multichoice will not look into all that, in fact they have a totally different approach,” added Dziva.

Indications are that there is going to be stumped and hovering at Miekles Hotel as hundreds of youthful Zimbabweans would want to try their luck to participate at this year’s Season 9 slated for August.

“Zimbabwe, do you want to be the next Hakeem? Please be at The Meikles Hotel in Harare on the 12 and 13 July 2014 for your chance to be part of the Big Brother Africa experience. Auditions start at 08:00 but get there early to avoid queues,” read a statement posted on BBA Facebook page on Thursday. Zimbabwe Mail
