Big Brother Africa: The aspiring Zimbabweans in Pictures
The Big Brother Africa auditions are scheduled for this weekend at the Meikles Hotel in Harare. Nehanda Radio looks at some of the musicians, socialites and fashionistas who have expressed an interest and want a piece of the action.
Hundreds of aspiring contestants have been sending their pictures and profiles to the Big Brother Africa Zimbabwe Facebook page.
In addition singers Cynthia Mare, BaShupi, Ammara Brown, Sani Makhalima, Lady Squanda and former radio presenter Tinopona Katsande are all said to be interested. According to MultiChoice Zimbabwe publicist Liz Dziva:
“The selection panel for BBA consists of team members of Endemol, who are the producers of the show and selected staff from the Zimbabwe office.
“This ensures that the selection criterion is transparent. Furthermore, the shortlisted candidates are then sent to South Africa for further assessment before final selection,” she said.
The publicist said that the decision to select candidates is a team effort between M-Net’s Africa Magic and the show producers Endemol.
“The show’s selection team looks for housemates who are vocal, fluent in English, fun-loving, creative, original and articulate. Housemates are also expected be tolerant of views and lifestyle choices others than their own and must have the social flexibility to live in close proximity with others,” she said.
Dziva said to enter for auditions one has to be the age of 21 years old with a valid passport.
“I have heard that some people have begun campaigning on social media of which is good to have a fan-base but the adjudicators don’t even know much of that and they don’t judge who has more fan-base or what. They judge you on the day and check on what they want,” she said.
