Steward Gwamura, 59, is expected to appear before Chief Chikwaka (Witness Bungu) after a married woman Precious Muzadzi, 26, confessed to cheating with the councillor using irrigation project shelters as love nests.

Gwamura is alleged to have taken advantage of Precious’ husband Edward Zvomuya’s absence to cheat with Precious.

Precious’ husband is based in South Africa.

Precious told H-Metro that Cllr Gwamura would ask her to stay behind after working the land at the irrigation projects where they had sex several times.

“I met the councillor sometime in November last year on my way from the shops and he proposed love to me,” said Precious.

“He included me in the team working at the irrigation project where he would ask me to stay behind after work for sex in the shelters there.

“My husband went to South Africa in January last year and he supports me and our two children aged 7 and 3.

“Cllr Gwamura promised to take me as his second wife and I agreed before he started giving me money and proceeds from the irrigation project which included potatoes.

“I felt guilty after falling pregnant that I failed to find ways to contain the situation as the tummy grew bigger before it was discovered by my father in law Thompson Zvomuya,” said Precious.

After the discovery of the pregnancy, Precious was victimised by Edward’s younger brother- Reason Zvomuya- who dragged her to her guardians calling her names.

“I was not given time to pack my belongings by Reason who dragged me to my uncle’s house calling me names and even followed me as I visited the toilet,” narrated Precious.

“I feel bad for this but I felt my husband was neglecting me and Cllr Gwamura kept on promising to take care of me.

“I was not given a chance to communicate with my husband after Reason forcibly took my mobile phone. Edward is still to communicate with me since the story broke,” she said.

Precious, at first, said a Zinwa worker based at Musiiwa Growth point was responsible for the pregnancy as she feared exposing Cllr Gwamura who is related to the Zvomuya family.

Cllr Gwamura confirmed the story saying he was tempted but villagers were trying to tarnish his image over the issue.

“It is true that I am expected to appear before Chief Chikwaka over allegations that I bedded a married woman who was left by her husband for two years,” said Cllr Gwamura.

“Zvomuya family is demanding five beasts from me and the case is likely to be heard this Thursday and they have since chased away Precious from their home.

“These are just allegations meant to tarnish my image and they emanated from people who saw me with Precious at the irrigation garden project that I am leading,” said Cllr Gwamura.

Precious’ uncle Joseph Matema, 58, told H-Metro that Reason threatened Precious with death following the discovery of the pregnancy.

“Precious did a shameful thing and I did not expect that from her asi munin’ina wemurume wake akamushungurudza zvikuru threatening to kill her and even followed her to the toilet dragging her,” said Joseph.

“I was on my way from church when Zvomuya family members approached my wife revealing what had happened and Precious had not told us before about the illicit affair.

“We are waiting to hear the chief’s decision after we met last Wednesday with the Zvomuya family who are demanding five beasts from Gwamura.

“Gwamura admitted his offence to Zvomuya family and apologised and we are still to receive lobola from Zvomuya family; Precious gave them two children.

“Edward is not communicating with us or Precious after receiving the message about this adultery,” said Joseph. H Metro
