Hwange colliery workers go 11 months without a salary – #NehandaCitizenReports

Hwange Colliery workers have gone for 11 months without a salary as the deputy minister of mines blocked the appointment of Mr. Makore as the chief operations officer.

The appointment was made by the Mutamangira board.  Under the proposal the 16 executive managers were to be reduced to 6 departments and a lot of heads were going to roll.

The ailing company was going to save significantly in terms of revenue. Due to a lot of under hand dealings which cde F Moyo is involved like the Otto Simon, Portnex contract deals, which the colliery is paying millions of dollars and big fish benefits.

As workers we believe he is behind the blocking of Mr Nicholas Van Hoogstraten deal, as he is the same major shareholder who fired him for under performing.

During Dzinomwa era the company used to perform with 8 managers and Fred Moyo tripled the number during his era though it never added any value and further went on to appoint two general managers, operations and finance, when he was trying to clinch the dbsa loan deal in South Africa but to no avail.

Today is the same minister saying Hwange does not need funding. Jemister Chininga the acting MD is proposing to give employees 10kg mealie meal 2 litre cooking oil 2 kg sugar for them to for go salaries for 3 months when already they have 11 months in salary arrears.

As I am writing employees are receiving the hamper. Management is saying money raised from sacrifice is to buy mining spares.

Please may the minister of finance and other government officials intervene before the national asset is collapsed by certain politicians sabotaging it on the guise that they are in the ruling party.

Things on the ground are decaying and media is flowering a good picture.
