Baba Jukwa newsmaker of the year for 2013

Facebook activist Baba Jukwa was the Zimbabwean newsmaker of the year for 2013, beating MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai into second place according to an online poll of nearly 3000 Nehanda Radio listeners and readers of the website.

Baba Jukwa propelled by a popular Facebook page and a growing army of informers generated endless headlines by exposing corruption, violence and murder committed by mostly Zanu PF politicians and other prominent figures.

In second place was opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, helped mainly by his high profile divorce to Lorcadia Karimatsenga and claims by a South African woman that he had promised to marry her before ditching her via text message.

In close third was RMG Independent End Time Message leader Pastor Robert Martin Gumbura (57) who was recently sentenced to an effective 40-year-jail term after being convicted on four counts of rape involving three women.

Robert Mugabe, Emmanuel Makandiwa, Uebert Angel, Nikuv Projects, Pokello Nare, the Budiriro Witches, Tinopona Katsande, Mugrade Seven, Edward Chindori Chininga made up positions 4 to 12.
