Please hire me, begs Josphat Somanje

Sungura musician, Josphat Somanje, whose career took a nosedive about two years ago, is begging fellow musicians and promoters to consider him as a supporting act at their shows so that he gets some income to fend for his family.

“I am more than willing and much comfortable to be a supporting act in other musicians shows because I want to make a comeback in the music arena.

“I know they do not pay much for supporting acts, but if I get the slots I can at least l can buy bread for my family. I have more passion for music than being a electrical technician,” he said.

The musician who has had several misfortunes socially and musically is also looking for a sponsor to finance the recording of his upcoming album.

“I’m looking for sponsorship to record my album so that l will be able to produce my master copy.”

Somanje reportedly turned to gospel music in December last year after facing many misfortunes in his life. He is now a member of Dunamis International Ministries.

“Turning gospel does not imply that I have completely abandoned sungura music altogether but I will mix both genres,” he said.

Somanje refused to comment on his relationship with his brother Daiton Somanje.

“I am not going to say anything about my relationship with my brother because you media people turn to blow things out of proportion,” he said.

Last year his band, the Somanje Stars was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of his drummer Affick Jones.

His 2012 album titled “Tele4nic” was poorly received by his fans and he openly admitted that he the album was a flop.

In 2010 he was involved in a scandalous act when his wife caught him red handed with a girlfriend at the Harare Polytechnic.

The brothers found fame as Pengaudzoke but they parted ways over money and other family matters, one of the reasons that drove Josphat to seek answers from God. The Herald
