Zimbabwe and Morocco shared the spoils in the hot and humid conditions of Cape Town, South Africa as they both kicked off their Group B African Nations Championship campaign on Sunday at the Athlone Stadium.
The first real chance of the match fell to Issam Erraki but his powerful effort was kept out by Warriors keeper George Chigoya. It was then Zimbabwe’s turn to miss a golden opportunity when Donald Ngoma failed to find the target with just the keeper to beat.
Earlier, Zimbabwe’s Simbarashe Sithole should have done better with a free header, while Iajour Mouhssine screwed a shot wide for Morocco. Early in the second half Zakaria El Hachimi was left unmarked at the back post, but he directed his shot wide across goal.
