The project which is being driven by Julius Shamu, Maynard Mazavare and Taona Kandemiri says it wants to “celebrate the Zimbabwean girls in the diaspora” and help them “raise their self-esteem and self-worth.”

“It is also an opportunity to bring together the Zimbabwean community and friends of Zimbabweans in Cape Town who do not have an opportunity to meet, mingle and network,” Julius Shamu told Nehanda Radio in an interview.

He said the winning girls will be attached to a Cape Town charity organisation called Nazareth House, a place where orphans and abandoned children find shelter for a period of 3 months.

Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town has lined up performances from Cape Town Zimbabwean resident Afro pop diva Sharon SHAEZ Chirau of the “Newe Fame” from ShamStone Production and Entertainment and a line-up of DJs such as DJ Rob and Bashmouth.

The pageant will be on the 30th of November 2013 from 6pm to 12am at the Belmont Square Conference Centre, 22 Belmont Road in Rondebosch.
