Addressing journalists at a press conference held in Harare on Friday, Sikhala said the only way to defeat Zanu PF was to stage Egyptian style of revolutionary demonstrations that would end President Robert Mugabe’s 33 year grip on power.

“Our urgent National Executive Council meeting held yesterday (Thursday ) resolved that we will not contest in this shameful election. It is a well known fact that Mugabe is a political bully who has no room for defeat in his heart.

“We are not going to participate in this charade, we calling for a total boycott,” said Sikhala.

The MDC 99 president added that they are going to stage a massive revolutionary demonstration that he believes would mark the independence of the people of Zimbabwe.

“People of Zimbabwe can only be liberated by a revolution not an election. We already know that Zanu PF will rig its way into office and that is what we want to end. On the eve of July 31 we are going to stage a historic revolution that will be remembered in the history of this country,” said Sikhala.

Sikhala however attacked parties in the inclusive government for failing to address the needs of the majority and focusing on self enriching programs.
